Sanya launches price restriction on hotel room rates during 2012 CNY season
As Spring Festival nears, the tourism market is entering a busy season. According to ctrip.com, the number of individual travelers to visit Sanya this January is estimated to rise by 40% compared with the same period last year.
At the same time, the Sanya Commodity Price Department has launched a price restriction guided by the government management. Hotel room rates must not exceed 10% compared to the level during the 2011 Spring Festival period, which will valid from 22nd to 28th, January in 2012.
It is learned that hotel room rates are much higher during the Spring Festival season than usual in Sanya. Room rates even hit a sky-high price at RMB10,000 per night in 2010.
Due to the implementation of the new restriction, hotel room rates will not grow greatly this year. Average price of a standard room in Sanya’s 4-star hotel is around RMB400 to 600 currently, and the reservation price for the holiday season won’t go up more than RMB100, noted Qunar.com.
