Construction on VOR Sanya Destination Village to be completed
Construction on the Volvo Ocean Race Sanya Destination Village is 90% completed, according to the Sanya Organizing committee.
An exhibition hall to display the international image of 11 ports is underway and is due for completion by Jan. 20th, 2012.
The Destination Village covers 30,000-sqm land-on area dedicated to entertainment with a program brimming with concerts, shows, exhibitions, sailing clinics, rides, fireworks and restaurants.
The Destination Village will open to the public from Feb.4 to 19, 2012. During the period, direct shutter buses linking Yalong Bay and the sailing port will be opened to bring convenience to spectators.
The Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 is the world's premier race for professional racing crews, starting from Alicante in Spain. The race spans 37,000 nautical miles, stopping at 11 ports and taking nine months to complete.
