Finland’s Aland Island becomes Haikou’s 25th sister-city
Recently, the president of the Haikou Municipal Political Consultative Conference Han Mei and the minister for Trade and Industry of Aland Island Mr. Frederick signed a cooperation agreement and both sides reached an understanding on the establishment of sister-city relations between the two cities.
As the only autonomous region of Finland, Aland Island has a total area of 6,784 square kilometers and consists of more than 6500 islands. It is a popular tourist destination in northern Europe with unique draws.
Aland Island is Haikou’s 25th sister-city around the world, and the first from northern Europe.
