9 law enforcement officers injured during anti-demolition protest in Sanya
9 law enforcement officers were attacked by anti-demolition residents during an illegal building demolition at the entrance of Sanya River last Friday.
On the morning of that day, nine law enforcement officers were attacked with stones by local residents as they reached the spot and started the procedure to break the 7 illegal constructions there.
According to the Sanya government, the reconstruction of the community near Sanya River is the key city’s development project, where it is devoted to building into a high-end leisure resort community.
Since 2007, relevant departments have given notices to residents and put forward compensational negotiations over the removal agreement. Despite that, the construction work of illegal buildings has not stopped.
At present, 5 have been slightly injured and 4 are still hospitalized with severe legs and heads injuries.
