Good air quality in Haikou was reported for 31 days in May, 100% of the time, according to figures released by the National Environmental Protection Bureau.

Among the 74 major Chinese cities, including those in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta region and the Pearl River Delta area, the 10 cities with the best air quality are Haikou, Huizhou, Fuzhou, Zhuhai, Zhoushan, Zhongshan, Shenzhen, Jiangmen, Dongguan and Xiamen.

At the other end of the scale, the 10 cities with the poorest air quality are Shijiazhuang, Tangshan, Xingtai, Handan, Jinan, Baoding, Hengshui, Zhengzhou, Beijing and Tianjin.
