Contestants pose in bikinis for the 19th New Silk Road Model Contest in Sanya in the southernmost province of Hainan on 8th December
 
The 50 beauties, all winners of 15 sub-contests nationwide and from North America, are in the coastal city to compete for the crown in the event finale, which will be staged in Sanya today. The contest debuted in 1989 and has been widely accepted as one of China’s major model competitions.
