A college student in Sanya Qiongzhou College was sentenced to 15 months in prison for illegally intruding the telecom system and selling prepaid cards, reports 0898.net.

 

From November to December 2010, Student Zhong worked as a part-time employee at a Telecom Business Hall near Qiongzhou College. After noticing the vulnerability in the system management, he illegally altered and recharged 41 telecom prepaid cards with total a amount of 79,871 yuan. 

 

With the recharged cards, he sold them via Taobao to consumers at a lower price and made a profit of 8,650 yuan.

 

According to the telecom company, the loss of revenue due to the recharged cards is approximately 5,426 yuan.

 

In court, Student Zhong confessed to all his wrongdoing. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison and fined up to 5,000 yuan
