Hainan Orchid Association is planning to set up a network of orchid stores in Sanya and Haikou in an attempt to promote orchid industry and add island’s economy next year.

With ideal climate and soil resources, Sanya is chosen as the most preferred city for orchid growing. Besides, the lower production cost than domestic cities also encourages local farmers to jump at the chance to strive to this profitable industry.

Currently, a total of 7,000 hectares of land is used for orchid plantation. The move to set up orchid sales and shops are based on the increasing market demands.

In 2012, Sanya is going to host the annual International Orchid Show and the city is also busy preparing to apply to the candidate city to host 2017 22nd World Orchid Conference.
