To regulate the auto repair market in Sanya, the local transport department launched a comprehensive crackdown on unlicensed businesses across the city and 99 unlicensed shops were ordered to cease operation, reports 0898.net.

A recent visit to several auto repair shops in Yuchuan District and Linchun River Road found most of the shops distributing waste water illegally into the ground.

The Local transport authority said some shop owners tried to get by without a license and have been caught with fictitious repairs or improper auto devices sold to customers.

Mr. Xu, a car owner noticed something wrong with his steering wheel and tried taking it to an auto repair shop. The shop owner said it would cost at least 1,000 yuan to fix it as the problem was caused by the engine.

"I dont think there was something to do with the engine and I decided to have my car fixed at 4S shop and it only cost 80 yuan," said Mr. Xu.

Besides, the authority said owners who are cited for not having a license could pose a potential safety risk on traffic as most of cars that get repaired will not be guaranteed with quality.

According to the inspection, a total of 99 auto shops in the city were found without sufficient licenses and ordered to suspend business.
