Sanya’s sales of consumer goods totaled 116 million yuan during the National Day holiday, an increase of 14% compared with the same period last year, according to the Sanya Commerce Bureau.

Sales of household appliances, jewelry, clothing and Hainan specialties soared during the 7-day holiday which started from Oct. 1. In the case of Wanghao Supermarket, sales of Hainan specialties gained wide popularity among consumers.

Many shopping malls in Sanya launched sale promotions to lure customers as the city was affected by the typhoons and heavy rains during the holiday. The sales at Mingzhu Shopping Mall were up 5% year on year and Fuleduo also increased 20%.

Besides, one of the highlights during the holiday consumption boom definitely belonged to the Sanya Duty-free Shop. The volume of transaction bills in the shop reached 30,000, with average daily bills up 50% compared to the usual shopping time
