To battle against the upcoming heavy rains and fierce winds, the Sanya tourism authority issued a notice that visitors are advised to suspend all outdoor activities such as playing along beaches, fishing and mountain climbing, reports xinhuanet.com.

The weather station forecast that Neglae is moving at a speed of 15 km per hour and is expected to land on the southeast parts of Hainan on late Tuesday.

On the second day of the week-long holiday, travelers’ mood for outdoor activities were discouraged as a result of rain. According to local authorities, six major scenic spots have received a total of 26,400 tourists, a drop of 4.9% over the same period last year.

To ensure the safety of tourists, the department also urged the public to stay away from restricted danger zones and abide by all emergency measures as typhoon Neglae approaches.
