Typhoon Nesat leaves 5,700 passengers stranded in Sanya
Around 5,700 passengers have been stranded in Sanya due to the typhoon Nesat Thursday, according to the information from Sanya Phoenix Airport.
As of 17:00 pm on Thursday, 24 flights were delayed and a total of 89 flights were cancelled including 50 arriving and 39 departing flights.
Nesat, regarded as the strongest typhoon hit Hainan within the six years, has caused a direct economic loss of 5.8 billion yuan to the island. 18 cities across the island have been affected and more than 1,350 houses have been destroyed.
Besides, the typhoon forced 450,000 people to evacuate from their houses and left 1 person dead.
