Affected by the 18th Tropical Storm Haitang and the upcoming 17th Typhoon Naset, the average hotel occupancy rate in Sanya is 42.11%, dropped by 3.67% over the same period of last year, according to the latest information from Sanya Tourism Development Commission.

Compared with last year, the total volume of hotel rooms offered during the week-long holiday is up 11% while the occupancy rate dropped by 3.67% due to the bad weather ahead of holidays.

Typhoon Naset, upgraded from a tropical depression, is expected to land at the eastern part of Hainan Island Thursday afternoon and bring strong winds and torrential rains across the island.

Concerning the impact from recent typhoon, many hotels in Sanya started to launch sale promotion activities to lure more tourists, among which the hotel occupancy rate in Sanya Resort Intime and Sanya Bay Narada Resort & Spa Sanya Bay both reached 90%.
