As of this September, Sanya police had dealt with 109 pickpocket cases and arrested 127 suspects since the anti-pickpocket campaign began last December, reports 0898.net.

Since the end of last December, a special anti-pickpocket task force was deployed to bus stops, buses, airport, supermarket and crowded places to target pickpockets.

In the early September, two pickpockets were caught at a bus stop in Sanya Dadonghai Area ganging up to steal a tourist’s wallet. They were both sent to an administrative detention for 15 days.

Among the 127 pickpocket suspects, 56 are juveniles, considered as an alarming figure on the crime activity.

A police spokesperson said they will ask police personnel to strength efforts to crack down on pickpocket crimes during the upcoming National Day holidays.
