Sanya braces for the year’s 18th tropical storm Haitang

A tropical storm warning has been issued across Hainan Island early Monday morning as tropical storm Haitang was approaching the south coast of ithe sland and expected to bring heavy rains in large portions of the island, reports hinews.cn.
The tropical storm’s location was spotted at 220 kilometers southeast of Sanya. The storm was moving west and packed with maximum sustained winds of 15 kilometers per hour with the same strength.
The seaboard sections of the island have experienced heavy rains and thunderstorms and some parts of the storms have had up to 8-level winds.
In Sanya, the local government has made preemptive preparation for the potential flashfloods and landslides in some areas triggered by the recent heavy rains.
