Macau and Hainan plan to open direct flights to boost tourism

Macau and Hainan are planning to open direct flights to strengthen tourism and economic relations between the two cities, according to the latest information from the 7th Pan-Pearl River Delta Forum held in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province.
Chui Sai On, the Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region, said relations between the two cities has flourished over the last 10 years and that Macau was of cooperative interest to strengthen the direct links.
He said the proposal of opening direct flights has been approved and the next step is for relevant authorities to make further discussion on the details before carrying out the plan.
The representative of the Hainan Provincial Government said that Macau is one of the favorite destinations for tourists in Asia and the intentions to begin direct flights between Hainan and Macau will have a favorable effect on the economy, culture as well as tourism cooperation.
