Airfares for travelers for Hainan for the National Day holidays will remain unchanged over same period of the last year, reports Hainan.net.

In the week-long holidays, prices of most domestic flights begin rising by up to 20% to 30%, pushing prices for domestic tours up by about 20%.

Air ticket offices in Guangzhou said most air routes would see less than 20% discounts in price and some would cost no discounts.

The more expensive flights are in those popular routes such as flights to Beijing, Xi’an, Kunming, Lijiang and Huangshan.

A flight from Beijing to Haikou will rise to 2,183 yuan on the first day of the National Day holiday while it will cost 238 yuan to fly to Guangzhou with 70% discounts on Oct. 2.

According to the sources, the holiday travel rush and the rising fuel prices are reasons behind the airfare increases.

Travel agencies say the price hikes have affected the sales of tours by air. Most tours cost 10 to 30 percent more while some are even more expensive. Some tourists are suggested to turn to routes that are not so popular.
