The 2011 Tour de Hainan Int’l Road Cycling Race will be kicked off in Sanya on October 20th, according to the Hainan Sports Center.

The international cycling race has attracted 20 professional cycling teams from United States, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Switzerland, South Africa, Spain, Australia, Malaysia and Taiwan to gather together on October 20th.

Event organizers said those big names will help draw more fans and enthusiasts to the island for the race and boost the local economy.

The race features 10 stages which will be completed over 9 days and cover more than 1,399 km via 18 cities throughout the island.

"A lot of cycling enthusiasts are traveling all over to see this race start, to see the top tour riders, they're going be coming in”.

As one of the most influential cycling tournaments in Asia, local authority said it will bring a lot of publicity to the city.
