China Airlines opens inaugural Sanya-Taipei non-stop flight
Tourists from Taiwan arrived in Sanya on 6th September, 2011
On September 6th, the inaugural non-stop flight carrying 143 passengers from Taiwan landed at Sanya Phoenix International Airport, reports hndnews.com.
The inaugural flight, with some 143 passengers aboard, took off from Taipei Taoyuan Airport at 15:20 pm and arrived in Sanya at 17:50 pm.
The Manager of China Airlines said opening the direct flight was a major plan for the Hainan government as well as for China Airlines, which will facilitate cooperation and exchange between Taiwan and Hainan in economy, trade and tourism.
The direct flight, operated with a Boeing 737-800, will leave Sanya for Taipei every Tuesday and Saturday.
The new route will remove the need to travel via the cities of Hong Kong and Macao.
He also added that the new weekly non-stop flights between Haikou and Taipei will soon open this October.
