A 3-year-old boy from Qiongzhong, Hainan died after drowning in the river Wednesday when visiting the scenic area of Nanshan Guanyin Park with his parents, reports 0898.net.

The boy was seen floating in the river by a tourist around 1:00 pm.

After seeing the situation, the boy’s father, who was resting on the grass a few meters away, immediately jumped into the river to rescue him and scenic spot staff called the police upon reaching the spot.

Once the boy was out of the water, a scenic medical staff was trying to perform CPR on him at the scene before the emergency services came, but the boy eventually died of drowning.

The boy’s parents were desperately sad and blamed that there was no fencing around the river.

The cause for the accident is under investigation and Nanshan scenic area will take the responsibility to reach a compensation agreement with the boy’s parents.

At present, new stainless steel guardrail has been installed around the river and a warning sign was placed to prevent children from wandering there.
