According to the 2012-2013 China Yacht Industry Report which was released at the China (Haikou) Yachting Economic Forum and International Yachting Exhibition on 10th May, Xiamen edged out 13 other Chinese cities as the city with the most competitive yacht industry.


 
The report is based on analysis results of yacht industry competitiveness of 14 Chinese cities including Xiamen, Fuzhou, Sanya, Ningbo, Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao and Guangzhou. Conducted by the China Cruise Yacht Industry Association (CCYIA), the evaluation has 4 major aspects: natural environment, competitiveness of government management, yacht industry and yacht service.

As the second pilot city for yacht development in China, Xiamen has vigorously pushed forward its yacht industry in recent years. A total of 158 boats and yachts were sold in the city in 2012, bringing in RMB 420 million in sales revenue.
