The Sanya Duty Free Store has received over 1.3 million visitors more than 100 days since Hainan Duty Free Policy took effect on April 20, reports hinew.cn.

As of August 10, more than 340,000 transactions were made in the duty-free store, with daily volume of visitors reaching 11,500.

Among 18 types of imported commodities are sold in the store and fashionable boutique items are the most popular, accounting for 50.8% of total sales, followed by perfumes and cosmetics products, with total number of sales accounting for 43.8%.

As the tax policy provides that goods priced above 5,000 yuan are required to impose taxes as postal, goods priced above 5,000 yuan only accounted for 1% of total sales so far, Liu Jing, the Vice General of the Sanya Duty Free Store told a reporter.

"We have launched a wide range of promotions. Some of the goods are even as low as 40% off. Our company will make proper adjustments including removing or updating brands to meet market demands.”
