The Department of Education in Sanya said Wednesday that they will close 44 private kindergartens that have poor facilities to assure children safety, reports sanya.news.cn.

Recently, the Department of Sanya Education launched a campaign to overhaul the city’s unlicensed private kindergartens.

Figures from the department showed that 98 private kindergartens are unlicensed. Among them, 44 kindergartens were forced to close down and 54 were ordered to improve to meet standards.

Children at unlicensed kindergartens are vulnerable to various hazards," said an official of the education department, "So we need to figure out a way to protect their rights."

Local education officials also advised that parents should check the license of private schools and inquire about their license to operate before they enroll their children.
