City dwellers are questioning the quality of the reconstruction project of Sanya Bay after typhoon Nock-Ten left heavy damages to the infrastructure in the area, reports 0898.net.

On August 3, the 2-km-long beach between Haiyue Plaza and the transaction of Xinfeng Road was found a mess after the tropical storm. The beach had suffered severe erosion and the access connecting street and beach were seriously damaged.

Many residents pointed out that the damaged infrastructure is part of the government’s reconstruction project. Last October, the government spent near 80 million yuan reconstructing the infrastructure in Sanya Bay.

"I tour around with my bike as usual after the storm left, but I was surprised to find that the former roads were severely damaged when getting off. I never saw such a great damage to Sanya Bay, even from Typhoon Conson that directly hit Sanya,” said resident Mr. Cai.

The public is rather concerned about the scientific feasibility of the reconstruction project and hope the government can give a reasonable explanation.
