Sanya plans to build its first new charging station for electric city buses apart from hundreds of natural gas city buses running on the roads to make a greener traffic and low-carbon city, reports sycn.com.

With a total investment of 30 million yuan, the project will cover 89 hectares and include a charging station field, bus repair center, and bus cleaning and disinfection testing center.

At present, the first batch of 3 pure electric buses are already running, but there have been no charging stations that serve them particularly.

In addition, the local government has approved the plan to purchase 40 more pure electric buses.

“The station will boost the development of the Sanya electric automobile industry as well as a low-carbon economy by saving energy and reducing emissions in a deeper way," said a spokesman of the Sanya Transportation Bureau.

The selection of sites for the new charging stations has generally been completed and scheduled to begin operation in the near future.
