From July 2010, local government has passed regulations to identify the illegal buildings constructed on the public lands across the city. Currently, the city has dismantled a total of 1,578 illegal buildings, involving an area of 1.62 million sqm, reports 0898.net.

Statistics from local authorities showed that more than 6,000 buildings have been found as illegal structures in the city. Most of them are constructed in the areas for key projects.

Since the operation started, the city has dismantled illegal buildings mainly in the areas including Nanbin Farmland, Nanxin Farmland, Phoenix Town and Tiandu Town.

Statistics also show the owners of these unauthorized constructions are mainly from the Northeast of China, Beijing, Fujian, Jiangxi, Henan and Guangdong province, with a small part from locals.

Unauthorized constructions is still a serious problem as they began to shift from the key projects areas to the neighboring regions in the city, which will lead to the severe waste of land resources and are also affecting the smooth implementation of the city’s development plan, said an officer of Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-rural Development.
