Expansion part of Xinfeng Bridge to open for traffic on July 25
Xinfeng Bridge in Sanya
The expansion part of the Xinfeng Bridge is expected to open for traffic on July 25, as the city seeks to reduce vehicle pressure downtown, reports 0898.net.
As one of the vital road links for Hexi Road, Hedong Road and Xinfeng Road, the former narrow Xinfeng Bridge has been causing frequent traffic bottlenecks due to the multi-fold increase in the vehicular traffic, widening of the bridge has become inevitable to create more space for smooth movement of the vehicles during rush hours with a long-term perspective.
To ensure the expansion of the exiting bridge not to suspend the traffic, local government took steps on adding two new bridges on both sides of the original one. Currently, investment on the expansion project has been involved in more than 3,200 yuan.
The Xinfeng Bridge will open to its full capacity once the reconstruction project of the Xinfeng Bridge project is completed. The timetable will be finished before the 2012 Spring Festival.
