China Airlines to launch weekly direct flight between Sanya and Taipei
Passengers can take direct flights from Sanya to Taiwan starting September 6, according to China Airlines, the largest carrier in Taiwan.
In recent years, with the increasing cross-strait exchanges, Taiwan is becoming one of the important potential tourist source markets for Sanya tourism.
In 2010, the number of tourists from Taiwan in Sanya amounted to 17,700, a year-on -year increase of 7.6%.
Each year, nearly 60,000 to 80,000 Taiwanese tourists are interested in traveling to Hainan. Among them, Sanya is one of the major destinations.
However, the traffic bottleneck is an obstacle for tourism cooperation between Hainan and Taiwan.
Starting September 6, the new direct flight route will greatly shorten travelers’ time as they used to have a long transit in Hong Kong when traveling to Sanya.
“Exchanges between Sanya and Taipei are sure to become more active with the launch of the new route, and we are looking forward to more tourism cooperation in both cities.”, said the Tang Sixian, the Vice Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission.
At present, details of the flight time and prices have not been confirmed yet.
