Tourists call for pedestrian underpass at Sanya Duty Free Store
Since the implementation of Sanya duty-free policy for domestic tourists from April 20, many tourists flocked to the store to purchase their shopping lists. However, large number of tourist arrivals has posed a heavy pressure to the traffic around it. Some tourists advise local government to plan and build an underpass to resolve the problem, reports 0898.net.
As Sanya Duty Free Store is located at the Yuya Avenue, tourists who want to head for the store have to get across the street. During the period, the high volume of traffic, violation of traffic lights and short traffic lights often pose a potential risk on the road safety.
Speaking to the traffic problem near Sanya Duty Free Store, some tourists think it is necessary to find some resolution to permit traffic to flow through the Yuya Avenue while also allowing pedestrians safe access to both sides of the Duty Free Store and Luhuitou Park.
Beijing tourist Liang said, "I think local authorities can consider building an underpass connecting Luhuitou Park to the store. In some big cites like Beijing and Shanghai, public places with large pedestrian flow are usually built underpasses."
