The average house vacancy rate in Sanya’s five major centers at the end of June reached 85%, according to a survey released by the Sanya Bureau of Real Estate Transaction, reports 0898.net.

Of the 7,333 random housing units in Sanya, houses remaining unoccupied at the end of June reached 84.75%.

The results of the survey reveal that the major centers with a house vacancy rate above 90% were: Dadonghai Area (94.26%); Haipo District (96.26%). At some coastal regions like Dadonghai and Sanya Bay, the house vacancy rate even hit 95%.

The survey also showed that in some high-end residential areas, the vacancy rate is beyond 95%.

Experts said that house investment continues to be the main factor that influences the surging vacancy rate in Sanya since property investment buyers accounted for 60% to 70% of the total house buyers.
