Sanya to invest RMB99.38m to build more pubic kindergartens in 2011
Sanya is planning to build more kindergartens in urban-rural districts as pre-school education still remains a problem that needs to be resolved, according to the relevant departments, reports 0898.net.
The kindergarten project is part of the city's comprehensive goal to provide affordable quality education to kindergarten children across the whole city.
At present, there are a total of 56 kindergartens registered with the education authorities including 2 public kindergartens and 54 private kindergartens. The pre-education enrollment rate reached 62%, which is lower than the national standard.
However, low enrollment rate, unqualified teachers and shortage of educational resources are the main problems hindering the pre-educational development.
To improve pre-school educational quality, the local government will invest about 99.38 million yuan to put kindergarten construction into the public service of community projects this year, which includes the expansion construction of current kindergartens to relive the shortage of public kindergartens in the city center.
In addition, a batch of new kindergartens will be constructed in some urban-rural areas to ensure that each town will have a public kindergarten within these years.
