Haikou tops 74 major Chinese cities with best air quality in March
Haikou was ranked 1st in a national report on the air quality in 74 major Chinese cities in March.
The report, based on the air quality index (AQI) in 74 major Chinese cities, was released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection starting from 1st January, 2013.
According to the report, Tangshan was the most polluted city last month, followed by Shijiazhuang, Xi’an, Chengdu, Xingtai, Baoding, Sining, Handan, Langfang and Taiyuan. Haikou came out top with the best air quality, followed by Zhoushan, Lhasa, Fuzhou, Huizhou, Zhuhai, Lishui, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Zhangjiakou.
Data from Xiamen Environmental Monitoring Central Station showed that the city recorded 14 days with excellent air quality, 66 days with good air quality, and 10 days with lightly polluted air quality from January to March this year.
