Mr. Li, a 24-year-old young man, has been arrested by Sanya police on suspicion of drunk driving after a traffic accident on Tuesday late night, reports 0898.net.

Around 12:35am, Mr. Li was driving his car out from the parking lot of the Guoxi hotel when his car hit a pedestrian. The car accident left the pedestrian with a fractured left foot.

A sobriety test showed Li had 123 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood, exceeding China’s legal alcohol limit.

According to the newly-amended Road Traffic Safety Law which took effect May 1 of this year, Mr. Li became the first person to face punishment under the tough new rules in Sanya.
