Sanya releases 2010 annual environmental quality report
The Sanya Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources recently released the 2010 Report on Environmental Quality of Sanya. The environment monitoring results showed that the quality of water and air in 2010 was stable compared with that of last year, reports hinews.cn.
According to the environmental monitoring authority, drinking water sources in the city met the Grade II national surface water quality standard. Most of the water quality was good on the whole except water quality in some water sections had slight pollution.
In 2010, the air quality index for more than 96.2% of the days was recorded good and fair. The average concentrations of sulfur dioxide (SO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) kept the same level of last year and a slight decline in particles compared with the same period last year.
In terms of noise pollution, the annual noise pollution under the monitoring program was the same as that of last year.
The total area of forestation in Sanya was 72.7 hectares and the forest coverage rate in 2010 stood at 68%, which was as same as that of last year.
