1st phase of Sanya Nanshan Cargo Port to be put into operation in H2 of 2011
After several months of construction, the first phase project of Sanya Nanshan Cargo Port is expected to put into operation in the second half of this year, reports hndnews.com.
Located 40km west from Yazhou Bay, the port is designed to have an annual container handling capacity of 650,000 tons, with the largest handling capacity of 870,000 tons.
The first phase of the port will be equipped with one berth with tonnage of up to 10,000 tons. At present, supporting facilities and roads to the container yards have been basically completed.
Relevant authorities pointed out that the launching of the port will be seen as a major breakthrough to boost the growth of Sanya’s economy as well as to build it as an important shipping center in the south of Hainan Province.
