Sanya is planning to build an eco-tropical marine sightseeing centre in the Creative New City Area of Yacheng following the construction of marine farm started in Wuzhizhou Islet, reports hinews.cn.
With an estimated investment of 1.5 billion yuan, the project is a deep exploration of marine natural resources and marine culture.
The marine sightseeing centre will be divided into land area and oceanic area.
In the land area, a tropical marine life exhibition centre and marine life and research center for aquaculture breeding will be built to offer visitors a closer glimpse into the marine life along the coastline.
Besides, the government decided to functional artificial reefs in the sea area to allow the visitors to enjoy the sea angling services in this environmentally-friendly man-made marine habitat.
According to local authorities, the project is a combination of eco-marine tourism and fishery tourism, with an aim to raise the public awareness of marine protection while enjoying the marine surroundings.
The eco-marine sightseeing centre will provide 300 new jobs upon its completion.
