Sanya tourism delegation attends Cross-Strait Tourism Expo in Taipei
According to the Sanya Tourism Development Commission, the presence of the Sanya Tourism Promotion delegation for the Cross-Strait Tourism Expo in Taipei has attracted widespread attention from Taiwan tourism-related industries, reports hinews.cn.
“I have learned from TV that Barbie Hsu & Wang Xiaofei’s wedding was held in Sanya. The scenic spots, cultural festivals and food in Sanya are really attractive to me,” Miss. Su, a Taiwan resident told the reporter.
According to local Taiwan travel agencies, each year, about 60,000 to 80,000 Taiwan tourists are interested in traveling to Hainan, among which Sanya is listed as the main tourist destination. However, the current traffic bottleneck between Taiwan and Hainan has become the obstacle to promoting development of tourism cooperation.
At present, the current direct flights between Haikou and Taipei are only two flights a week, and can hardly meet the increasing demand of Taiwan tourists to Hainan Island. Most Taiwan visitors traveling to Hainan need to transit from Hong Kong, which in fact not only shortens their length of stay in Hainan, but also increase their travel expenses.
The best way to tackle this obstacle to increase the number of Taiwan tourists to Hainan is to increase the direct flights.
The two sides have exchanged views and reached a common understanding on many tourism issues. We hope the flight routes between Taibei and Sanya can be opened as soon as possible.”, said Du Linyin, Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission.
