Drunk driving laws boost demand for designated driver services in Sanya
Residents in Sanya have an increasing demand for the designated driver service companies as China’s newly revised regulations on drunk driving came into effect on May 1, 2011, reports hinews.cn.
According to the new regulations, drunk driving will result in the suspension of a driver's license for 5 years and a life-long driving ban will be given to drunk drivers if there is major traffic accidents occured due to drunk driving.
The new regulations, targeting to reduce the cases of drunk driving, are supported by most of people after its implementation.
Since last year, the Sanya traffic police department has dealt with 12 cases of drunk driving, with 12 people held in administrative detention.
Compared with some professional designated driver services in some big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu, many residents in Sanya are expecting a regulated market for designated drive services in the future.
