Dead horseshoe crabs have been recovered on the Sanya Bay beach on April 16, reports hinews.cn.

According to the Sanya Bureau of Marine and Fishery, horseshoe crabs are not uncommon in Sanya and it doesn’t belong to the protected animals.

Horseshoe crab, which occurred 400 million years ago, is an ancient animal as old as the trilobite fossil, also called the ocean living fossil. The blood color of the horseshoe crab is blue, which is of great medical value.

 
Currently, the cause for the horseshoe crabs’ death still remains unknown.
