In order to meet the increasing travel demand between Taiwan and Sanya, direct flights from Sanya to Taiwan are expected to open from May this year, reports hinews.cn.

On April 5, over 20 representatives of travel agencies from Taiwan have paid their 5-day visits to Hainan on the travel routes as well as golf tourism. During this period, they were impressed by the improvement of golf infrastructures and the rapid growth of Hainan tourism development over the years.

According to the representatives, proposal for extended direct flights between Hainan and Taiwan has been submitted to the State Administration of Civil Aviation for approval. Direct flights from Sanya to Taiwan (Taichung or Hualien) are expected to open from May and 2 to 4 flights will be running every week.

In the past two years, with the launch of direct flights from Haikou to Taiwan at the end of 2008, there is a huge potential for boosting mutual tourism industry. Both of sides suggest that the launch of direct flights from May will see more tourism cooperation in the future.
