To better deal with and prevent any possible earthquakes or natural disasters in Sanya, Sanya Government plans to build a seismic observation station in the eastern part of the city and a temporary refuge at Luhuitou Square, report sycn.cn.

At present, the location for the seismic observation will be preliminarily chosen at Jiyang County, Sanya. According to the official with Sanya Earthquake Bureau, the data to be collected from the eastern seismic observation will be made contrast with that of Nanbin Seismic Observation Station to help improve the accuracy of the seismic observation results.

Besides, the local government will set up a temporary refuge at Luhuitou Square. The refuge, covering a total area of 141,000, is expected to be able to evacuate 20,000 people in case of emergency, which accounts for 3.4% of the total population of the city.

The officials also pointed out relevant departments should coordinate with each other to build up a team with comprehensive abilities for all kinds of disasters.
