Drunk driver in Sanya oversleeps for 1 hour while waiting for traffic light
At 9:00pm of March 10th, a drunk driver was oversleeping while he was waiting for a traffic light at Yinhai Road, Sanya, reports hinews.cn.
According to Mr. Wang, a resident living nearby, he was having a walk along Sanya Bay when he saw a Chevrolet car parked on the traffic light road and the car engine was still on.
“I have no idea whether the driver was sleeping or lost consciousness, since the car was locked. So I had to call 110 for help.” Mr. Wang told the reporters.
Despite passers-by’s efforts to wake him up by knocking on the window, the drunk driver didn’t notice it and continued to sleep for more than one hour until police came.
In order not to influence traffic order, the police had to drag the car to the sidewalk to check the driver’s identity.
After knowing what happened, the driver, Mr. Cheng, admitted drinking alcohol that night when talking business with clients. He apologized for his mistake and was very thankful for the policemen‘s kind warning and willing to accept any kind of punishment.
