As the European Union begins to ban the use of the estrogen-like chemical bisphenol A (BPA) in plastic baby bottles from March 2011, some parents have shown great concern about the quality of baby bottles sold in Sanya, reports 0898.net.

According to a reporter’s recent investigation, baby bottles sold in Sanya are mainly glass and plastic products. Most of the plastic baby bottles fail to list the compounds of the bottle on the label.

Bisphenol A, or BPA, is used to make hard polycarbonate plastic, and is now widely use in plastic bottles. BPA is regarded as a toxic chemical which will put a potential threat to a baby’s health after using bottles with such a substance.

As for BPA, most parents have little knowledge of it and some supermarkets in Sanya haven’t received complaints on this issue at present.
