A government regulation that went into effect on Feb. 1, 2011 requires motor vehicles in Sanya to go through emissions test for the protection of the city’s environment, reports Hainan.net..
 
According to the Sanya Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, owners of motor vehicles in Sanya have to get the Motor Vehicle Emission Test Certificates from eligible test stations in the city.
 
As for the motor vehicles which discharge black smoke and fail to meet the national emission standard, are forced to get repaired within 3 days after receiving their vehicle renewal notice.
 
If the motor vehicle fails to be repaired in due time, they will be forcedly confiscated and the driver’s license will be revoked and the driver will get a fine up to RMB 2,000.
 
Sanya Environmental Protection Department, Sanya Public Security Bureau and Sanya Transportation Department will work together to make casual emissions tests measuring vehicle exhaust for harmful pollutants on motor vehicles run in Sanya
