A bird’s eye view of Luhuitou Village in Sanya

On the morning of Feb. 11, 2011, Ms. Jian, a migratory resident from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, was walking along the beach near Luhuitou Village when she noticed some sewage discharge pipes extending into the sea, reports 0898.net.

The pipes, with different lengths, are discharging waste water and grease everyday with an unpleasant smell.

"My husband and I used to come to play in the water. The deeper we got, the fouler the seawater was." After seeing what clearly appeared to be sewage discharge, Ms. Jian is worrying about the pollution of this sea area.

A sewage discharge pipe is seen under the water at beach in Luihuitou Village, Sanya

"These pipes are buried in the beach and it is not easy for people to discover them when the tide is coming," said Ms. Jian, who immediately reported the situation to the local Water Authority.

According to initial investigation, the sewage discharge comes from Luhuitou Village.

Local authorities are aware of the ongoing sewage discharge. At the same time, they will discuss the reconstruction of sewage pipe network to protect the nearby sea area.
