After the media exposure of the French multinational supermarket chain Carrefour overcharging customers in China, similar cheating behavior was also found in Baijiahui Supermarket in Sanya, reports 0898.net.

Mr. Zhang, who came to Baijiahui Supermarket to buy baby products for his new born son, found price mistakes on his receipt after paying for the purchases on Thursday.

A tissue box, seen by Mr. Zhang on a price tag for RMB 10.8 from 1 to 23 Feb, was still sold at the original price of RMB 13.5

Upon suspicion, Mr. Zhang turned to the supermarket staff for an explanation but he was only told that it was the supermarket staff’ s error entering the wrong price for the tissue box.

However, Mr. Zhang was dissatisfied with the explanation and made a complaint to the Sanya Industry & Commerce Bureau.

At 5:00pm, the officials came and carried out an investigation confirming the deceit. They found 14 consumers were cheated on the price of the tissue box during the sales period.
