Sanya successfully cleans up an oil spill at Phoenix Int’l Cruise Terminal
An oil spill took place last Saturday from a cruise liner at the Sanya Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal, reports hinews.cn.
At 6:00 pm on February 5, 2011, the Maritime Safety Administration of Sanya received a call that an oil spill was discovered near the terminal.
The oil spill covered an area of 300 square meters. The administration immediately managed to take actions to clean up the spill and avoid further pollution.
According to the Maritime Safety Administration of Sanya, they will launch an investigation on the cause of the accident. They will also tighten inspection on any kind of illegal waste discharge at Sanya port.
