Sanya’s service sector saw strong growth in 2010
According to Sanya Statistics Bureau, the local service sector registered an impressive growth in 2010. The value-added of the industry reached RMB15.042 billion, up by 23.0% YOY and 2.8 percentage points higher than GDP growth. By sub-sectors, wholesale & retail trade recorded 23.1% growth YOY; other services 22.4%; finance 18.8%; accommodation & food 16.1%; transportation, warehousing & postal service 15%.
When talking about the local economy in 2011, officials of the statistics bureau said the economy of the whole country showed a strong momentum, which would create a favorable condition for Sanya’s development. In next year, China will focus its macro-economic policy on restructure and growth pattern adjustment, and step up its efforts to promote the development of the service industry. As one of the pilots for the "National Service Industry Reform", Sanya will get policy supports from the national and the provincial government. During the 11th five-year period, the city enjoyed fast growth, which laid the groundwork for the implementation of the 12th Five-Year Plan. In 2011, the second year Hainan implements the International Tourism Island Initiative, more preferential policies will by put into place and 166 projects will be kicked off. All of these will translate into vibrant growth of Sanya.
