Sanya to see housekeeper shortage during CNY holiday
With the approaching of the Chinese Lunar New Year, many housekeepers working in Sanya have gone back home for family reunions, leaving an increase in the housekeeper shortage in Sanya, reports hinews.cn.
“What shall I do since my nanny has to return home for the Spring Festival’s reunion, leaving my parents without taking care of?” said Ms He, whose parents are over 80 years old with aging disability.
Every day, Ms He is busy with running between housekeeping agencies but has failed to find an appropriate nanny to take care of her elderly parents.
Miss Liu, a staff member at the Sanya Long Xin Housekeeping Agency in Sanya, said most of the housemaids in housekeeping agencies are from other cities. One or two months before Spring Festival, 80% of the housemaids from other cities begin to pack and return home to prepare for family reunions, which will accelerate the nanny shortage.
To solve this problem, many housekeeping agencies have suggested that during the CNY holiday, 2 or 3 families can employ one nanny to serve their families. On the one hand, the nanny can stay for the improving salary; on the other hand, employers can also share the cost to save money.
