40 new LNG buses will be put into sevice in Sanya, Hainan province
40 new LNG (liquefied natural gas) buses will replace old buses on the NO.2 bus route in Sanya before Jan 25, according to Mr. He Zhenghua, director of the Sanya National Express Transportation Company.
In order to ensure the safety of public transportation during Spring Festival, the Sanya government and National Express signed an agreement to purchase 35 LNG buses to replace the buses on the NO.2 bus route.
The new LNG buses are safer than the old ones, with 4 additional escape windows and escape skylights apart from a necessary escape hammer and a fire extinguisher. Besides, the seats are made from biodegradable materials which are more environmentally friendly.
It is estimated that all the old buses will be replaced with the LNG buses in the first half of 2011.
